When the Academy Spouses' Club was founded in 1958 as the Academy Officers' Wives' Club the yearly dues were $10.
That doesn't sound like a lot... but if ASC dues had kept up with inflation they would be $105 today!
How much does it cost to join the ASC of 2023-2024?
For spouses of E1 to E4: $20
For spouses of E5 & E6 and O1 & O2: $30
For all other spouses: $40
Even at $40, ASC membership is over 50% cheaper than it was 65 years ago!
Just like today, members in 1958 had to pay to attend the club's monthly socials. The monthly social fees cover the cost of food, prizes and decorations. The average social in 1958 cost each member between $1.50 and $2.00. In today's dollars that's between $15.80 and $21.10. Luckily, that is the range that most of our monthly socials continue to cost!
